Be a part of a well-regarded and leading Otago law firm
Variety, awesome culture, beautiful location
We offer a competitive salary, subsidised healthcare, and great career prospects
We are on the hunt for a friendly, enthusiastic, experienced Administrator to join our busy and vibrant team, based in our Wānaka office.
About us
Gallaway Cook Allan is a large Otago-based full-service law firm with offices in Dunedin and Wānaka. We act for commercial businesses, private clients, and local and regional government, across the South Island, nationally and internationally.
Our clients tell us that they trust our ability to get to the point of a matter and then to provide advice that is practical, solution-oriented and represents value-for-money. Our staff tell us that our culture sets us apart. We are collaborative, approachable, open to different ways of working, and we value and trust each other to do the right thing – why not find out for yourself?
Our Wānaka office is a busy and thriving office and has the benefit of being part of a larger dynamic law firm. For us, it is important to have team members who are genuine about living in Wānaka for the long term and who are highly motivated to develop their practice in the region.
Doing the right thing for each other, our community and the environment is a core part of who we are. Our impact strategy is built on three pillars: community, environment, and team and includes actions in areas such as accessibility, pro-bono, community sponsorship and partnerships, sustainability and emissions reduction, wellbeing and of course, a welcoming environment for everyone.
About this role
This is a varied role that combines reception, office administration and legal administration support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, helping others and being the person who keeps everything running smoothly.
You may come from a legal administration background and enjoy wider office administration responsibilities, or you may have a general administration background and be keen to develop your legal administration skills.
Either way, you'll be reliable, approachable and proactive, with a strong work ethic and the ability to quickly learn new systems and technology. While experience in a professional, client-facing environment would be an advantage, we're ultimately looking for someone with a great attitude who enjoys being part of a team and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
What you'll be doing
As one of the key people in our Wānaka office, you'll help keep our small (but busy) team humming. Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing our reception area and welcoming clients
• Engaging professionally with clients, staff and other professionals
• Providing administrative support to Partners and other team members
• Assisting with legal administrative tasks and document preparation
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the office
• Helping create a positive experience for both clients and colleagues
Why join us?
Our culture sets us apart.
We work hard and support each other to do our best work, but we also make time to enjoy what we do. Our people describe us as friendly, collaborative and flexible, and we trust each other to do the right thing. We value different perspectives, encourage professional growth, and recognise the contribution everyone makes to our success.
In return, we offer a competitive salary, Southern Cross Health Insurance, ongoing learning and development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a supportive and collaborative team.
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
If you are legally entitled to work in New Zealand and have the experience and attitude we're looking for, we'd love to hear from you.
